THE Caloocan City Health Department (CCHD) reported that more than 22,000 minors, aged 12-17 years old, have registered for the COVID-19 vaccine.

CCHD officer-in-charge Evelyn Ong Cuevas told Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan that the number of registrants as of Thursday has reached 22,763 and is expected to increase in the coming days.

Mayor Oca said the pediatric vaccination of minors with risk factors or comorbidities will start Friday at the two city-run public hospital, the Caloocan City Medical Center (South) and the Caloocan City North Medical Center.

The vaccination of minors will be carried out in hospitals where children will be screened and monitored by doctors in case of serious adverse effect after inoculation.

Mayor Oca said children will receive US-made Pfizer and Moderna since the two were the only COVID-19 vaccines with emergency use authorization for 12 to 17 years old issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
