Caloocan opens drive-thru jab sites for delivery riders

THE City Government of Caloocan opened its drive-thru vaccination sites for pre-listed delivery riders at SM Sangandaan, South of the city and Caloocan Sports Complex in the North on Tuesday.

Around 1,000 pre-listed Grab delivery riders living in Caloocan, and those whose workplace was in the city, received their first dose of AstraZeneca vaccines.

The City Health Office said a total of 2,500 pre-listed delivery riders of Grab Food Delivery will be vaccinated at their drive-thru vaccination hubs.

Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan said the new method of setting up a drive-thru vaccination sites aimed to make vaccination closer and more accessible to the people and as one of the most effective response in their continued battle against COVID-19 pandemic.

“Inuna natin bakunahan sa launching ng inisyatibong ito ang ating mga delivery rider na batid nating mahalaga higit na ngayong ECQ. Gusto natin sila ay protektado rin nang sa gayon ay protektado rin maging ang kanilang mga pamilya at mga kliyente,” Mayor Oca said.

Mayor Oca expressed his deep appreciation to Grab Philippines in collaborating with the City Government in the pre-listing of their delivery riders who wanted to receive their first dose of the vaccine, and also to the City Health Department, Public Safety and Traffic Management Department and other offices that helped in accomplishing the drive-thru vaccination.

The City Health Office meanwhile said the regular vaccination inside SM Sangandaan and Caloocan Sports Complex will continue but will not accept walk-ins except for senior citizens.
