SEVEN Caloocan athletes received an incentive from the local government for bringing home medals during the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Sports Development and Recreation Office (SDRO) Officer-in-Charge, Dindo Simpao, proudly presented each of the medalists to Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan and other city officials.

“Narito po ang mga achievers, na ipinagmamalaki natin dito sa Caloocan. Sa lahat ng sumali mula sa Pilipinas, pito po ang galing sa ating lungsod, kaya naman hindi po tayo titigil na tulungan at gabayan ang mga kababayan natin, mapa-bihasa man o nagnanais pa lamang maging atleta,” Mr. Dindo said.

Mayor Malapitan extended his warm felicitations to the medalists and thanked them for bringing honor and pride to Caloocan and the Philippines. He likewise affirmed that the city government will continuously support its athletes’ upcoming game events through SDRO.

The medalists include Jayson Cayari of Barangay 171, who won a bronze medal at the Jiu-jitsu Men’s Duo Competition, as well as the brothers Harvey and Karl Navarro of Barangay 86, while Justine Perez of Barangay 160 took home a bronze medal at the E-Sports (Crossfire).

Meanwhile, Ivan Agustin of Barangay 171 won a silver medal at the Karate Men’s 84kg Kumite, and Jerard Jacinto of Barangay 15 won a silver and bronze medal and set a new Filipino record at the Men’s 50-meter backstroke swimming event.
