Calbayog Water marks five years of service, community dedication
CALABAYOG Water, a Non-East Zone operating unit of Manila Water subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, commemorating five years of dedicated service, community partnership, and commitment to delivering high-quality water services to Calbayog City and its surrounding areas.
Since its establishment, Calbayog Water has focused on enhancing the quality of life for Calbayognons through providing reliable water and wastewater services and sustainable, community-centered initiatives. Among their most significant projects is the Cabatuan Pump Replacement Project, which will supply an additional 4 million liters of water per day to meet the growing needs of Calbayog’s residents. In addition, the Asbestos Pipe Replacement Project is modernizing distribution channels to further improve water quality. Calbayog Water has also successfully cut down its Non-Revenue Water (NRW) from 50% to 30% and continues to work to further reduce water loss and improve operational efficiency.
Further notable developments include the Pagbalican Pump Station and Reservoir Rehabilitation Project, the San Policarpo Booster Pump Station, and the San Policarpo-Pagbalican Transmission Line Project—all designed at securing reliable water volume and pressure across Calbayog City’s central areas and neighboring barangays. Another key initiative is the construction of a new Sewage Treatment Plant set to begin operations by the end of 2024, emphasizing the business unit’s commitment to environmental stewardship and safeguarding the health of our community.
Regular tree planting events, active collaborations with local stakeholders, and support for the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program are also integral to the Company’s ongoing contributions to environmental preservation and community welfare.
Celebrating under the theme “KUSOG: Celebrating a Legacy of Strength and Resilience”, Calbayog Water honors its journey with “Kusog,” a Waray term meaning “strength,” symbolizing the Company’s resilience, growth, and determination in overcoming challenges while nurturing strong bonds with the community.
“As we look back on the past five years, Calbayog Water reaffirms our commitment to serve and uplift our community,” said Fernan Barry Bohol, OIC Operations Manager, Calbayog Water.
“Every challenge we’ve encountered has been an opportunity to grow stronger. We look forward to a future filled with the same dedication, resilience, and passion for service,” he added.
Calbayog Water is the 25-year joint venture between the Calbayog Water District and Manila Water tasked for the operation, maintenance, management and expansion of the Water District’s franchise area.
