Calamba PNP nabs 2 drug ‘peddlers’

TWO suspected drug pushers were nabbed by the operatives of Calamba Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday evening following the confiscation of P71,400 worth of illegal drugs in an operation conducted in Calamba City, Laguna.

Calamba City Police chief P/Lt. Col. Arnel Pagulayan said the suspects identified as Rogelio Ocampo and Mark Ryan Besande, both residents of Calamba City.

Calamba Police operatives led by PMaj. Alajino Balaoro together with the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency-Laguna (PDEA) has conducted a buy-bust operation in Narra St. Corner Mulawin St. Purok 1, Bgy. Bucal where the suspects were collared at around 11:02 p.m.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165.

PLt. Col. Pagulayan said that Ocampo and Besande were both street-level individuals operating or selling drugs in Calamba City.

The joint anti-illegal buy-bust operation caught the suspects in the act selling drugs to an undercover.

During a preventive search conducted to Ocampo, they recovered from his possession were 3 plastic sachets of shabu placed in a coin purse with an estimated weight of 10.5 grams with an estimated value of P71,400.00, the P500 marked money, boodle/drug money – while recovered from Besande, one plastic sachet of shabu.

Calamba Police investigator PSSg. Daril Piamonte and Pat. Jayfee Valencia said that the suspects are now detained.
