Calabarzon cops net 2 top drug ‘traffickers’
POLICE Regional Office (PRO) 4-A director, Brigadier General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. on Friday announced the arrest of two top drug trafficking personalities in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region during an anti-narcotics operation in Biñan City in Laguna.
The official said that the two drug suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
According to the PRO 4-A director, the two were arrested by undercover officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the Biñan City Police Station (PS) during a buy-bust operation inside the Malayan Subdivision in Barangay Malaban at 10 p.m. Thursday.
Recovered from the possession of the duo were 26 plastic sachets containing around 165 grams of shabu worth P1.07 million, the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill and P1,150 in different denominations, which were believed to be part of the two suspects’ drug proceeds.
Laguna Police Provincial Office Director Colonel Randy Glenn G. Silvio described the female suspect as a “high-value individual” in the province, while his male cohort has been identified as a “street-level individual” or involved in the trafficking of drugs in his neighborhood.
The two are now being held at the Biñan City Police lock-up facility, even as Brig. Gen. Nartatez ordered the Laguna Police to continue their conduct of follow-up operations to identify and arrest the main source of the big volume of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” seized from the suspects.
