CAAP underscores importance of aviation safety
THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), led by its Director General, Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, successfully chaired the 35th Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG) meeting, held at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand from November 25 to 27.
The event gathered 163 delegates from 26 member states, two administrative regions, and six international organizations, marking a significant step toward achieving seamless skies in the Asia-Pacific region.
In his closing address, Director General Tamayo underscored the critical importance of APANPIRG’s role in promoting aviation safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the region.
“Our meeting this week ensured that civil aviation in the APAC remains efficient, interconnected, and safe – with minimized boundaries and maximized collaboration, fostering a more integrated air navigation system for the benefit of all,” said Director General Tamayo.
The meeting addressed pressing issues such as air navigation deficiencies, air navigation safety and innovations like use of drones for flight inspections and virtualized Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM).
