CAAP joins ‘Duck, Cover, and Hold’ quake drill

EMPLOYEES from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” approach as they participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Office of the Flight Surgeon and Aviation Medicine (OFSAM) personnel in the CAAP Head Office simulated disaster damage and injury scenarios and implemented its emergency medical service procedures.

As part of the CAAP Central Office’s efforts for disaster risk reduction management, the activity was spearheaded by Assistant Director General for Admin and Finance Capt. Thomas Tannhauser A. Fortun, and Admin Department Acting Chief Nicole Ramos.

Meanwhile, CAAP Airports and Area Centers in Virac, Masbate, Laguindingan, Siquijor, Butuan, San Jose, Sangley, Dipolog, Ipil, Pagadian, Bohol-Panglao International Airport, Davao International Airport, Puerto Princesa International Airport, and Zamboanga International Airport also joined the nationwide earthquake drill; and conducted their exercises which included briefing, evacuation, search and rescue operations and response to casualty incidents.
