CAAP ensures readiness of Loakan airport

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has rigorously prepared for the reopening of Loakan (Baguio) Airport to commercial operations.

In coordination with the Baguio City LGU (local government unit), Philippine Airlines (PAL), Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), Office for Transportation Security (OTS), and other concerned agencies, CAAP assessed the readiness of the airport and its facilities to handle commercial operations following the operational, security, and technical standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) in the months prior up until the last day before the airport welcomed the maiden flight from Cebu on December 16, 2022.

The successful landing and take off of PAL flight PR2230 flight to and from Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Friday is proof of the work that all the concerned agencies have put into providing this new service to the Filipino people and connecting the Visayas region with Northern Luzon.

“This accomplishment is a milestone CAAP is determined to provide more to our passengers. We will continue in our work and guarantee that our passengers can expect that the airport will receive even further developments,” CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo shared.

Accordingly, CAAP will continuously monitor the airport and conduct further assessments to ensure that Loakan Airport is only providing safe, reliable, comfortable, and convenient service to its passengers and stakeholders.
