MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Mayor Cipriano Violago Jr. of San Rafael this province tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Sunday.

In his official post on social media on Monday, Violago said he decided to undergo a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test after experiencing flu-like symptoms.

“Kaya ngayon, akin pong ipinapaalam sa inyong lahat na ako ay nag-positibo sa sakit na Covid-19. Ako po ay naka-quarantine na mula noong nagsimula ang aking sintomas at patuloy ang aking koordinasyon sa ating Municipal Health Office. (So now, I am informing all that I was positive for Covid-19. I have been quarantined since I started having symptoms and continuously coordinating with our Municipal Health Office),” the 60-year-old mayor said.

Violago said he is now in a good condition and “with the guidance of God, we will be able to overcome the dreaded disease.”

“I ask for your continued prayers as well for all our kababayans (townmates) who are fighting Covid-19 today,” he added.
