SOME 150 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in prison facilities under the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) are now eligible for pardon and executive clemency.

This was after the Board of Pardon and Parole (BPP), after extensive review, approved the grant of parole or “amnesty” to them.

Those granted parole or clemency are due for release since April, BuCor said in a statement.

“Last Monday (June 6), 150 carpetas (prison records of PDLs) were returned and approved for release,” BuCor spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said.

BuCor is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Under the law, the DOJ has administrative supervision over BuCor.

The prison facilities under BuCor are: San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Oriental Mindoro, New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, The Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, and the Leyte Regional Prison in Southern Leyte.
