Breadwinner stabs self in front of family
MOTHER’S Day nearly turned into a tragedy for a family in Malabon city when a 28-year-old breadwinner allegedly tried to commit suicide in front of her family on Sunday evening.
Malabon police chief P/Col. Joel Villanueva said the breadwinner, an alleged lesbian, and resident of Brgy. Potrero was rushed by her relatives to the Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital where she was placed under observation after treatment of a stab wound in her abdomen.
The breadwinner’s 38-year-old sister told homicide investigator P/SSgt. Julius Mabasa that while they were having a drinking session inside their house in celebration of Mother’s Day, her sister confronted their brother and aired her grievances on the latter.
After the confrontation, the victim went to the kitchen at around 11:40 p.m. and allegedly stabbed herself in the abdomen in front of her 68-year old father and sister.
Sgt. Mabasa said the victim, being the sole breadwinner of the family, harbored bitterness towards her brother for still unknown reason.
Mabasa said victim’s family has executed a waiver stating that they were no longer interested for any further police investigation since they believe that the injury of the victim was self-inflicted.
