Boy, 7, crushed dead by tractor
THE hunt for a farm rat on Wednesday ended in tragedy after a tractor harvester crushed to death a seven-year-old boy in Ramos, Tarlac.
The victim was with his playmates when he met his untimely death.
Investigation showed the children followed the tractor harvester as disturbed farm rats appeared from the rice field.
“Nalaman ko sa mga kalaro niya na naatrasan ng harvester ang anak ko. Ang dami-dami nila sabi ko bakit hindi nila tinitingnan. Nasa gilid na raw and anak ko sabi nila bakit naatrasan pa,” a victim’s grieving mother said in an interview with GMA-7.
The driver of the harvester said he did not notice that the kids were following the tractor.
He cried after being told that he ran over the victim when he moved the tractor backward.
Police said the operator vowed to give financial assistance to the grieving family.
