Boracay cops get 6 patrol motorcycles
THE Malay Municipal Police Station in Aklan province now boast of six brand-new patrol motorcycles which they will use to further secure the world-famous Boracay Island and the rest of the municipality.
On Wednesday, the Malay police presented to the public the motorbikes donated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to help them further increase their anti-criminality patrols and implement the law in the area.
Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista ordered a public bidding for the six motorcycle patrol units after the PAGCOR headed by chairman Al Tengco approved the request of former Malay police station commander Lt. Col. Don Dicksie De Dios for additional mobility assets.
As a result, the Malay police now headed by Lt. Col. Mar Joseph Ravelo was able to get six brand-new 155cc Yamaha Aerox patrol units complete with police accessories.
Bautista credited De Dios for securing the motorcycles from PAGCOR and said the vehicles will further enhance the local police’s mobility round-the-clock and in particular, provide the kind of protection all domestic and foreign tourists and local residents want.
Now assigned to the Police Community Affairs and Development Group, De Dios became known as the longest-serving Malay police station commander who greatly improved the peace and order situation in Boracay Island and the rest of the municipality through much-closer partnership with the local government, the community and their other stakeholders.
The official was cited for his very effective work as Malay police chief, wherein he led a significant reduction in all forms of criminality and other illegal activities, including illegal gambling and drugs while keeping Boracay Island as peaceful as possible via the 24-hour patrol.
De Dios thanked the support they got from Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Mel Robles when he was still the Malay police chief.
