Bong GoTHE Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go distributed assistance to the Aeta community in Porac, Pampanga on Wednesday, April 21. The senator reiterated President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive for all government agencies to extend all help possible to poor and vulnerable sectors amid the challenges caused by COVID-19.

“As the President said, ‘no Filipino must be left behind towards recovery’. Gawin natin ang lahat ng ating makakaya para mapagaan ang pinapasang hirap ng ating mga kababayan,” Go reiterated.

Conducted in batches and under strict compliance with health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Go’s staff distributed meals, vitamins, masks and face shields to a total of 2,622 Aetas during five separate distribution activities held at the Villa Maria Covered Court, Bgy. Sapang Uwak Community, Porac Municipal Hall, Katutubo Village Planas and the Rotary Club Camias.

“Alam ko po mahirap ang panahon ngayon, nasa pandemya pa po tayo. Magtulungan lang po tayo, malalampasan rin natin itong krisis na ito bilang nagkakaisang mamamayang Pilipino,” Go said in his video message to the beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also provided each beneficiary with financial assistance in a separate distribution during the same activity. The Department of Health, in turn, gave away additional medicines.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA), on the other hand, assessed beneficiaries who are eligible for their various programs.

With COVID-19 posing a greater threat to the sick and elderly, Go offered to assist any beneficiary or their loved ones who are in need of medical care. He also urged those with health concerns to visit the newly opened Malasakit Center located at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City or at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando City.

“Kung kailangan niyo po ng tulong sa pagpapagamot, mayroon na tayong 102 na Malasakit Center sa buong Pilipinas. Batas na po ‘yan, isinulong ko noon,” Go explained.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where particularly poor and indigent patients may conveniently avail of medical assistance from the relevant government agencies, namely, the DOH, DSWD, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

As chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Go encouraged the residents to be informed about the COVID-19 vaccines and vowed that poor and vulnerable sectors will also be prioritized after the frontliners, in accordance with the national vaccination program.

The senator went on to recognize the public officials, led by Pampanga Governor Delta Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, Pampanga 2nd District Representative Juan Miguel Arroyo, Senator Lito Lapid, Porac Mayor Jaime Capil and Councilor Maynard Lapid, who continue to serve and provide for the needs of their poorest and most vulnerable constituents and stakeholders.

“Tandaan natin, minsan lang tayo dadaan sa mundong ito. Kung ano po’ng kabutihan o tulong na pwede nating gawin sa ating kapwa tao, gawin na po natin ngayon dahil hindi na tayo babalik sa mundong ito,” said Go.

“Kami po ni Pangulong Duterte, patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyong lahat dahil para sa amin ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo po ‘yan sa Diyos. Maraming salamat, mahal namin kayo,” he ended.

On the same day, Go’s office also provided emergency assistance to the eight families in Barangay San Francisco in Mabalacat, Pampanga whose houses and livelihoods were affected by a fire incident that broke out last April 9.
