SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go gave recognition to the Department of Health and the city government of San Carlos, Negros Occidental, led by Mayor Rene Gustilo and Vice Mayor Criston Carmona, for their joint efforts in successfully groundbreaking the town’s Super Health Center on February 9, which he personally visited.

The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, cited that more Super Health Centers will be established, particularly in rural areas where basic health services are not easily accessible.

“Ang isinusulong ko pong mga proyekto sa ngayon ay ito pong inisyatibo natin na Super Health Center. Sa tulong po ng mga kasamahan ko sa Kongreso at mga local government officials ay (napondohan) po ang 307 na Super Health Centers noong 2022 at 322 na Super Health Centers sa 2023. At napakarami po dito sa Negros Occidental, pito noong 2022 at 18 na Super Health Center ngayong 2023,” explained Go in an ambush interview after he personally led the relief operation in Don Salvador Benedicto on the same day.

The Super Health Center is an improved version of the rural health unit. It offers health services including database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ultrasound), pharmacy and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine, where remote diagnosis and treatment of patients will be done.

In the province of Negros Occidental, a total of 25 Super Health Centers were funded to be established so far.
