AN officer of the Bocaue Municipal Police Station in Bulacan accused of involvement in illegal gun trafficking was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a buy-bust operation in Makati City on Tuesday, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Albert Ignatius D. Ferro said.

In a report to PNP chief, General Guilermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the official identified the suspect as 46-year old Lieutenant Roy Bravo.

The cop was arrested by members of the CIDG Southern District Field Unit shortly after he sold a caliber 9mm Intratec sub-machine gun for P75,000 to an undercover officer at the Petron gasoline station along EDSA corner Danlig Street, Makati City 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Ferro said that recovered from the possession of the suspect were the 9mm sub-machine gun with a magazine and a suppressor, a 9mm Pietro Beretta semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing 14 live ammunition, his PNP identification card and a pair of PNP Field Service Uniform.

The policeman’s Suzuki car with plate no. NDK 6153 was impounded by the CIDG.

According to Ferro, the entrapment operation was launched by his men following an information that a certain ‘Bravo Roric’ was using the internet to engage in gunrunning activities.

The suspect had been telling his online customers that he will personally deliver the weapons and accessories they will buy from him, the official added.

Ferro said that members of the operating team were unaware that the suspect they arrested was a police officer until they recovered his PNP ID and other personal effects.

The official said they have sought the assistance of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group headed by Brigadier Gen. Flynn E. Dongbo and the Bulacan Police Provincial Office under Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe in further investigating the accused.

A record check showed that Lt. Bravo entered the police service in September 1998 and got his rank of Lieutenant via lateral commission in March 2019. He has been assigned in various PNP units including the Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group, the Police Regional Office 3 and the Bulacan and Bataan PPOs.

“Ang pagkakahuli ni PLt. Bravo ay hindi lamang bahagi ng pangunahing programa ng CIDG laban sa mga ilegal na armas kundi pati na rin ng pinaigting na Internal Cleansing Program ng ating Chief, PNP, Gen. Eleazar na ang layunin ay ang tuloy-tuloy na paglilinis ng hanay sa kapulisan,” said Ferro.

The suspect will be facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and an administrative case for grave misconduct, offenses that will merit his dismissal from the police service, the PNP-CIDG director said.
