BOC-NAIA intercepts wildlife parts at NAIA Terminal 3
THE Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted illegally imported wildlife parts under the possession of an arriving passenger at Terminal 3 on February 6, 2024.
After a rigorous screening through x-ray scanning and intrusive examination of the baggage of an arriving passenger, a New Zealand citizen, under flight CZ3091, it was found to contain three deer horns with skull and two pieces of deer skin.
The imported wildlife parts were confiscated for lack of import permits from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and in violation of Republic Act No. 10863, or Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
The Port of NAIA, led by District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, in strict coordination with the other government regulatory agencies, continues to implement importation rules against illegal wildlife trafficking.
