BLGF cites Bataan, Limay town as ‘Hall Of Famers’
IN a record-breaking history in terms of high collection efficiency, the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) has recognized the province of Bataan and the industrial town of Limay Bayan as “Hall of Famers” for topping four consecutive terms from 2018-2021, in collecting the “Highest Locally Sourced Revenues”.
In a statement posted on his facebook, Bataan Governor Joet S. Garcia said, “tayo po ang may pinakamalaking nakolektang buwis na atin namang ginagamit sa paghahatid ng mga serbisyong panglipunan at pangkaunlaran, gayundin sa pagpapatayo ng mga pasilidad at pagbili ng mga kagamitan na lubhang kinakailangan ng ating mga kapwa Bataeño.”
According to its Memorandum Circular No. 015-2022, the BLGF announced the national top performing provinces, cities, and municipalities in local revenue generations for 2021.
BLGF said Bataan province collected P1.423.16 billion on locally sourced revenues (LSRs), while Limay town, under the leadership of Mayor Nelson C. David and Vice Mayor Richie David landed 2nd in LSR with P811.98 million for 2021.
Journal learned that Cainta, Rizal has the highest collection.
According to the BLGF announcement, in 2018, Bataan topped the LSR, ranked 3rd in 2019, 2nd in 2020, and 5th in 2021.
Limay town, on the other hand, topped in 2018, 2nd placer in 2019, highest in 2020, and 2nd highest in 2021.
“The certificate of recognition of the Top 3 LGUs [local government units] per performance area and the local revenue generation ‘Hall of Fame’ will be awarded during the BLGF’s 35th-anniversary celebration in October, while the remaining certificates will be subsequently awarded by the concerned BLGF regional offices,” the BLGF statement read.
As the world suffered from the pandemic, the Bataan Petron Refinery temporarily stopped in 2021, decreasing Bataan’s ranking lightly, while Limay town maintained its standings in the two top categories.
“Patuloy po ang mga inisyatibo at pagsisikap ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bataan kasama ang lahat ng mga Yunit Pamahalaang Lokal na lalo pang pasiglahin ang ating ekonomiya upang lalo pang maging maunlad ang pamumuhay ng bawat pamilyang Bataeño,” Gov. Garcia added.
