Blast triggers discovery of kitchen-type shabu lab in Cavite
AN explosion inside a house in Tanza, Cavite on Wednesday resulted in the accidental discovery of a suspected “kitchen-type” or mini-shabu laboratory, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported yesterday.
PDEA officer-in-charge Assistant Secretary Renato E. Gumban said that at around 6 a.m. Wednesday, members of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Tanza responded to a reported blast incident in Leon Fojas St., Bgy. Sahud-Ulan.
The BFP personnel later reported the discovery of various drug paraphernalia, equipment, and assorted chemicals in the area, prompting them to seek the assistance of the PDEA Regional Office 4-A, the Tanza Municipal Police Station and the Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives or SOCO Team of Region 4-A.
Gumban said that a search of the area led to the discovery of the equipment, paraphernalia and chemicals use in manufacturing illegal drugs.
Upon further search, various types of dangerous drugs were also found on-site, he added.
The PDEA official said four occupants of the house, two of them said to be Indonesian nationals, the third a Chinese-looking individual, and the 4th a Filipina immediately fled the house after the explosion and are still being hunted by authorities.
The pieces of drug evidence were brought to the PDEA Laboratory for examination while the non-drug evidence were placed under the safekeeping of the PNP Forensic Group 4-A.
A case for violation of Section 8 (Manufacture of Dangerous Drugs and/or Controlled precursors and Essential Chemicals) of Article II, Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied for filing by the PDEA against the suspects at-large.
PDEA, PNP and National Bureau of Investigation agents have been dispatched to identify and arrest the four suspects.
