PRISON officers at the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Oriental Mindoro seized bladed weapons and other contrabands during a recent surprise inspection at Building 1, Central Prison Compound.

Acting Supt. Joel Arnold and CINSP Bryan Lohhan, Deputy Superintendent for Security and Operations, led “Operation Greyhound” and seized bladed weapons, cellphones, disposable lighters, and other items deemed as contrabands.

The “greyhound operations” will be conducted on a regular basis to flush out and confiscate contrabands. The unannounced inspections of PDL (persons deprived of liberty) dormitories and other areas also aim to maintain security at the detention facility, Arnold said in a statement.

The confiscated items were properly turned over to the Property and Management Office for inventory and proper disposition.

Apart from Sablayan, the other Bureau of Corrections prison facilities are New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City, and the Leyte Regional Prison in Southern Leyte.
