FOUR more teams make their debut today as action in the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup shifts to the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Blackwater squares off with NLEX in the curtainraiser at 3 p.m. before TNT meets Phoenix Super LPG in the mainer at 5:45p.m.

The Ariel Vanguardia-menred Bossing hope to do well with import Shawn Gloveras they hope to bounce back strong from a 12th-place finish and a 3-9 record in the Commissioner’s Cup.

A mainstay of the Oral Roberts, Glover is best remembered for helping Blackwater snap out of a league-worst 29-game losing skid in the 2021 edition of the same tournament.

The Bossing may also be getting an early boost following reports that NLEX may play all-Filipino with import Jonathan Simmons having difficulty getting a clearance from his former team in China.

The Road Warriors are reportedly set to bring in a new import. as a replacement for Simmons.

Still, Vanguardia isn’t taking NLEX lightly.

“Ganu’n pa din ang game plan. Try and contain their import kahit sino pa siya,” said Vanguardia, adding most of his players who suffered or nursed injuries in the last confernece are now all healthy.

“Maglalaro na finally si Baser (Amer), Jayvee (Casio), (Joshua) Torralba and then soon, probably next week, laro na rin si Troy (Rosario). Ang battlecry nga namnin ngayon ay All-In,” he added.

NLEX coach Frankie Lim,for his part, is hopingto get th emnost from his two new additions– Sean Anthony and Jake Pascual.

The 5:45 p.m. second game will feature two teams with new coaches — Jojo Lastimosa for TNT and Jamike Jarin for Phoenix.

Lastimosa is taking the place of regular coach Chot Reyes, who will now focus on his role as bench tactician of Gilas Pilipinas for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Reyes qill aos call gthe shots for the national team in Window 6 of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in February and the Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Lastimosa will be backed up by Serbian coach Lale Gorunovic, who was also appointed as active coaching consultant at TNT.

His Phoenix counterpart is Jarin, who assumed the coaching chores after Topex Robinson.opted not to sign a new deal with the team.

TNT and Phoenix arealso pinning their hopes on their imports this conference.

TNT is fielding Jalen Hudson, a 6-foot-6 guard/forward who saw action for the Hapoel Galil Elyon team in the Israeli league.
