TEACH the children well and they won’t go astray.

Educating children about abuses and their rights under the law is now a priority of the local police force in Catanduanes and soon to be, the rest of the region, a move which has been praised by Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar.

Members of the Catanduanes Police Provincial Office’s 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company intensified their information drive about rape and the Anti-Child Abuse Law as part of their effort to teach young school kids of their basic rights, which puts priority in protecting children from abuses.

As part of the Virtual “Bisita Eskwela”, the policemen first started their virtual information drive to children of Bgy. Timbaan in San Andres municipality last Saturday.

During the activity, the police officers discussed how the children can protect themselves, the importance of trusting the police in fighting for their rights, and the readiness of the police to assist them. School supplies and snacks were also given to the kids after the activity.

Eleazar hailed the members of the Police Regional Office 5 headed by Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo for their initiative as he stressed the importance of making children well-informed.

“Maganda na sa murang kaisipan pa lamang, malaman na ng mga bata ang kanilang mga karapatan at matatak na sa kanilang pag-iisip na ang kapulisan ay handa na bigyan sila ng proteksyon sa anumang pagkakataon,” he said.

“I appreciate the efforts of our personnel from the Catanduanes 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company on their initiative of reaching out to children in order for them to realize that policemen are not enemies but friends who are always ready to protect and defend them,” he added.
