I’M wishing all the best for the new set of officers assembled by PNP chief General Rommel Marbil as they prepare to ensure a peaceful and orderly May 12 National and Local Elections with the assurance of an apolitical police force.

Gen. Marbil says the latest PNP movement was triggered by the retirement of some senior police officers and thus, the need to fill-up their vacuum. He won’t call it a ‘reshuffle nor a revamp’ but merely a move to place the right official on the right job.

After serving as chief of the PNP Public Information Office and official spokesperson for four PNP chiefs starting from Generals Dionards Carlos, Jun Azurin, Benjie Acorda and now Gen. Marbil, my long-time friend Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo will again write history as the 1st female PNP Regional Director.

Fajardo, a lawyer-member of PNP Academy ‘Kaagapay’ Class of 1996 has been named as new Police Regional Office 3 director in Central Luzon vice another friend, Brig. Gen. Red Maranan of PNPA ‘Patnubay’ Class of 1995 who will move as the new PRO7 director in Central Visayas.

Fajardo has been the PNP-PIO chief and spokesperson of the Chief,PNP since January 2022. She will on record become the first ‘female RD’ in the PNP after becoming the 1st female PNP spokesperson.

Brig. Gen. Fajardo will be replaced as PNP-PIO chief and PNP spokesperson by Colonel Randulf Tuaño, a member of PNPA ‘Patnubay’ Class of 1995 who used to be the erstwhile PNP Finance Service director. Am wishing my friend all the best as he fills in the shoes left by Fajardo at the PNP-PIO.

Also a former PNP spokesperson and PNPA Class 1995 member, Brig. Gen. Maranan, the PRO3 director behind the successful accomplishments of the Central Luzon police force since last October will be the new Central Visayas police commander vice Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin of PNPA ‘Tagapaglunsad’ Class of 1993 who is now the National Capital Region Police Office director.

Another PNPA Class 1995 member, Brig. Gen. Roel Rodolfo will be the new PRO9 director in Western Mindanao after leading the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group’s successful mission to account for the country’s most wanted kidnappers and convict many of them last year.

Rodolfo will replace Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding of PNPA ‘Sandigan’ Class of 1994 who was named as new PNP Deputy Director for Comptrollership after successfully commanding the Western Mindanao police force since September 2023.

On the other hand, another PNPA Class 1995 member, Col. Elmer Ragay, the erstwhile Deputy Regional Director for Operations of the Cordillera Police Regional Office will be the new PNP-AKG director. Brig. Gen. Rodolfo said the PNP-AKG will be in the good hands of Ragay who used to be a veteran anti-kidnapping official too.

Another friend from PNPA Class 1995, Brig. Gen. Ely Matta was plucked out from the PNP Drug Enforcement Group after leading the unit’s successful anti-narcotics campaign in 2024 and will be the new Highway Patrol Group director. Matta will be replaced as PDEG director by his classmate-deputy, Col. Rolando Cuya Jr.

Two other PNPA Class 1995 products, erstwhile PNP-HPG director, Brig. Gen. Willy Segun was named as new Deputy Director of the Area Police Command-Southern Luzon vice Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta, a lawyer who was designated as the new Deputy Director of the PNP Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management.

Col. Melvin Napiloy, another PNPA Class 1996 member who used to be the Deputy Director for Administration of the PNP Aviation Security Group was designated as new Deputy Regional Director for Administration of the PRO4-A in Calabarzon region headed by Brig. Gen. Kenneth Lucas, also of PNPA Class 1995.

Last January 4, Gen. Marbil also designated PNP-ASG director, Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano of PNPA Class 1996 as Officer-in-Charge of the PRO13 vice now retired Brig. Gen. Alan Nazarro of PNPA ‘Tagapagkalinga’ Class of 1991 who headed the Caraga police force since last May 2024.

The top cop named Brig. Gen. Christopher Abecia of PNPA Class 1994 as OIC of the PNP-ACG. Abecia used to be the PRO4-A DRDA. The day before, the PNP chief designated Brig. Gen. Roy Parena of PNPA Class 1993 as Deputy Director of the Directorate for Police-Community Relations; Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome of PNPA Class 1995 as new PRO7 DRDA and Col. Mariano Rodriguez, also of PNPA Class 1996 as OIC-DRDA of the PRO11 in Southern Mindanao. Rodriguez and I are both members of the PNP Highway Patrol Group Motorcycle Riding Class 1998 or the HPG Centennial Riders.’

He also named Brig. Gen. Ramil Montilla of PNPA Class 1993 as OIC of the PNP Headquarters Support Service following the retirement of Brig. Gen. Radel Ramos of PNPA Class 1995 last December 30.

Gen. Marbil has also designated his classmate from Philippine Military Academy ‘Sambisig’ Class of 1991, Lieutenant Gen. Robert Rodriguez as the new PNP Deputy Chief for Operations with the retirement last December of their mistah Lt. Gen. Mike Dubria.

I’m wishing the above-named officials all the best as they help Gen. Marbil and the rest of the Team PNP fulfill the top cop’s vow to further modernize the 232,000-strong national police force and maintain its being apolitical during the mid-term polls apart from going hard against all forms of criminality and rogues in uniform this year.
