QUEZON City Mayor Joy Belmonte yesterday warned that full force of the law will be imposed against unscrupulous individuals once caught misrepresenting themselves as city officials to solicit money and/or merchandise.
Belmonte issued the warning after receiving reports about the illegal activities of these individuals who at times even impersonating actual persons.
According to reports, the modus of these individuals has been attempted through voice calls, messages, and emails, all pretending to be from official sources.
“Kindly be advised and remain vigilant. The Office of the City Mayor and the Departments of the Quezon City Local Government have never, and will never, directly solicit funds or other valuable merchandise from the public,” as stated in a statement issued by the city government.
Belmonte stressed that this also serves as a stern warning to all those involved in these scams as the Office of the City Mayor and the QC Police Department (QCDPD) will employ all investigation, enforcement, and legal resources to ensure that any and all perpetrators of this and other fraudulent activities are caught and brought to justice.
