NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Major General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Friday called on Metro Manila residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their surrounding in lieu of the deadly bombing in Mindanao State University (MSU) gymnasium last Sunday that left four persons dead and dozens more wounded.

“The National Capital Region Police Office is saddened and our hearts go out to the victims and their families affected by this act of violence and the safety of our community members remains our top priority,” said the official.

Maj. Gen. Nartatez said that although there are no threats detected within Metro Manila, the entire NCRPO has been placed on heightened alert since last December 3 as part of their proactive measure to prevent any threats to the citizenry.

“I have ordered a comprehensive risk and threat assessment and intensified counter-intelligence efforts within the region to deter possible unscrupulous individuals from carrying out their illegal or terroristic acts,” said the NCRPO director.

Nartatez said they understand that the MSU gymnasium bombing has caused fear and concerns among Metro Manila residents and thus, he called on the public to fully cooperate with their security measures.

“We encourage Metro Manila residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through our NCRPO text hotlines 09158888181 and 09999018181,” he said.
