THE start of the six-year presidency of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. at 12 noon on June 30 should be welcomed by all sectors of Philippine society.

For one, in the last presidential polls, more than 31 million Filipinos, from the rich and mighty to the poor and lowly, voted to return the Marcos family to Malacanang.

Many quarters said the victory of Marcos validated the people’s frustrations at the failure of the authorities to address our major problems after the 1986 revolution.

And to think that the successive administrations were supposedly supported by the Filipino people from Batanes in the North down to the green islands of Mindanao.

“Siguro nabuwisit na ang lahat, lalo na ang mga botante, dahil mukhang lumalala pa ang mga problema natin na kagaya ng kahirapan at kawalan ng trabaho,” said a farmer.

“At nandiyan pa rin ang illegal drug menace, katiwalaan at korapsyon sa ibat-ibang opisina at ahensya ng gobyerno, nasyonal at lokal,” the rice farmer lamented.

For another, there’s now that urgent need to come up with highly-effective measures and programs aimed at stepping up the tempo of our economic recovery efforts.

That’s why, in the view of well-meaning people, every Filipino ought to rally behind the administration of President Marcos.

Thus, the only son and namesake of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos deserves the support of even the ordinary citizens not only in the metropolis but elsewhere.

Dapat lang!
