“ONCE again, Sports has proven that it is and will always be a unifying passion of the Filipinos and our UniTeam will be one with all of our athletes in this cause. “
Former Senator and presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. jubilantly pointed this out in his statement on the Philippine Women’s Football Team’s first ever qualification to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and Final Four of the AFC Women’s Asia Cup
“I join the entire nation in congratulating our Philippine Women’s Football Team for its superb and historic performance in the AFC Women’s Asia Cup,” said Marcos.
Marcos added that the “momentous victory by the Filipinas or Malditas is a testament to the world-class abilities of Filipino athletes, which we shall — if given the chance — sustain and develop further with the implementation of a holistic sports program.”
“Thank you for showing us, and the rest of the world, what can be achieved through teamwork and a unified focus in pursuit of a goal. You have brought honor and pride to a nation already weary from this pandemic. The entire country will be behind you 100% in your bid to win the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Once again, Sports has proven that it is and will always be a unifying passion of the Filipinos and our UniTeam will be one with all of our athletes in this cause. Mabuhay kayong lahat at Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!,” Marcos said.
