THE guiding principle is enhanced travel experience for the public.”

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista gave emphasis to the above message, at the conclusion of a two-day department-wide strategic planning workshop held on December 8,9 2022.

With the objective of crafting a six-year national transport plan, the workshop served as a guide towards the development of policies, prioritization, and design of programs and projects on transportation. It also aims to set a long-term vision, formulate the strategies of transport infrastructure, and identify the priority transport projects to successfully realize the ideal transport network across the archipelago.

With the goal of making transportation services accessible, affordable, comfortable, and safe, heads of the Department’s four sectors, namely Aviation and Airports, Railways, Maritime, and Road Transport, and attached agencies, convened, discoursed, and exchanged views vis-à-vis the effective and efficient formation of this long-term plan.

Projects on the pipeline across the Project Development Cycle and various transport infrastructure outlook, strategies, and thematic initiatives were likewise set forth, as well as the Transportation Modernization Program 2023-2028 of the DOTr.

Updates on the administration and finance matters of the Department were focused on afterwards, of which the transport officials discussed several related concerns, propositions and recommendations.

Secretary Bautista conveyed his gratitude to the whole DOTr team and its attached agencies, for the collective efforts, knowledge, and expertise they brought to bear, to map out and construct the six-year national transport plan—as a way of laying the foundations of a much-improved transport system for the Filipinos—today and in the future.

“Keep in mind the welfare of the commuting public. Make actionable programs that would impact their daily commute,” Secretary Bautista concluded.
