Bataan PNP joins ‘Unity Walk’, peace pact signing

BATAAN Police acting director Col. Ronell Velasco on Monday joined the Commission on Elections (Comelec), religious sector, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), National Citizens Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), Special Action Force (SAF), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), CDC and PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) for a “Unity Walk and Peace Covenant Signing” from the Plaza Mayor de Balanga to Balanga Cathedral in Balanga City, Bataan.

The symbolic activity was held to promote cooperation between and among the candidates, supporters, voters, various community groups, and the PNP (Philippine National Police) for peaceful and orderly elections on May 9.

Among those present in the activity were Atty. Cristina Guiao-Garcia, Provincial Election supervisor of Bataan; Myra B. Moral, CESO V, Provincial Director of DILG; Rev. Ruperto Cruz Santos, D.D, Bishop of Balanga; Rev. Father Noel Nuguid, PPCRV Director of Bataan; Pastor Johnny Tomboc, Bataan NAMFREL Provincial chairman; Pastor Dolan Acda, of Blessed Bataan Movement; local candidates for governatorial, vice governatorial post, House of Representatives, and board members.

After the Unity Walk, the “Signing of Peace Covenant 2022 and Covenant on Bantay Kapulisan” was signed by the local candidates held in the Cathedral, each participant prayed to commit and to become an instrument of peaceful, orderly, and clean polls.

“Bilang ama ng kapulisan dito sa probinsya ng Bataan, umasa po kayo na ipagpapatuloy po nating mapanatili ng maayos ang darating na eleksyon, at umasa rin po kayo na ang serbisyo po natin ay may malasakit sa bayan at serbisyong laging may ngiti sa puso,” Velasco said in his speech.
