Bataan PNP implements stricter border control

BATAAN-PAMPANGA– As the province continuesto log a record high of COVID-19 and Delta variant cases, the Bataan Provincial Police Officd provincial police office (PPO) and Pampanga PPO is implementing stricter border control at Bataan – Pampanga boundary in Bgy. Balsic Hermosa, Bataan.

Col. Joel K. Tampis, Bataan police director, conducted Tuesday an ocular inspection along the boundary in Balsik and at the SCTEX in Palihan.

The stricter border control measures aims to prevent the entry of COVID-19 cases, particularly the Delta variant, in Bataan.

Earlier, Batasn Gov. Abet Garcia and Bataan agreed among to place Bataan under Enhanced Community Qurantine (ECQ) following the record high surge of COVID-19 in Bataan for the past few weeks.

Based on the Bataan COVID-19 update report, as of July 30, a total of 13,894 have been infected by the coronavirus 2019 and Delta variant while a total of 489 succumbed to the virus as of July 30,2021.

Bataan has a population of 853,373.

“The Provincial Director of Bataan PPO keeps tab on the deployed PNP personnel with the implementing guidelines of the Joint Task Force Corona Virus Shield as he personally inspected the control point and reminded the duty personnel on observance of Tamang Bihis and briefed them on the latest Provincial IATF Resolution,” said a local police statement.

The Quarantine Control Point is currently manned by a multi-sectoral team of Bataan PPO composed of four personnel and four from the Pampanga PPO as well as three auxiliary forces from the Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA).
