Baron1BARON Geisler plays a swishy gay for the first time in in “Barumbadings”. What made him accept the role?

“Who wouldnt want to work with Vivamax, my costars na puro magagaling, and our director, Darryl Yap, na nakatrabaho ko na sa ‘Tililing’?” he says. “Actually, I also play a gay role on TV in ‘Di Na Muli’, as the gay uncle of Julia Barretto and I am thankful to all those who wrote good comments about my performance.”

Baron turned 39 last June. He is a contemporary of John Lloyd Cruz in the teen group Koolits and in the youth drama “Tabing Ilog”. He became quite controversial for his brushes with the law and the complaints of co-stars who have worked with him. He was diagnosed to be bipolar and prone to depression.

He underwent rehab in Cebu and met a psychologist, Jamie Evangelista, who became his wife two years ago. Baron is now based in Cebu and they have a daughter named Talitha. His family changed him and has given him a new direction in life. The first time he went on lock in taping for “Di Na Muli” for one month, he missed his family so much.

“I experienced separation anxiety, nanibago sa bagong setup ng trabaho and I got depressed,” he says. “It’s good my co-stars were very supportive, like Lander Vera Perez who was my roommate.

When he notices depressed ako, nakikipagkuwentuhan siya sa akin. He asked me to play basketball. Puro positive vibes lang. Dito naman sa ‘Barumbadings’, Jeric Raval treated me like a brother.

Ang gaganda ng advice niya sa akin and I really appreciate it. I just focused on my job and the thought that I am here to work for my wife, my baby, our family.”

In “Barumbadings”, he plays Rochelle, while Mark Anthony Fernandez is Jopay and Jeric Raval is Izzy. Baron as Rochelle is always seen with a lollipop in his mouth. But don’t let this candy-loving Barumbading fool you. Unlike Joel Torre, their benefactor as Mother Joy, who is sweet and motherly, Rochelle is a mixed martial arts expert who will not hesitate to hurt anyone who attempts to harm him or his friends.

The lives of the three gay gangsters are suddenly shaken when their beloved guardian Mother Joy passes away. As Izzy, Jopay, and Rochelle look back on Joy’s bright and colorful life, see how the bereaved Barumbadings give honor to Joy’s memory one last time.

Starting November 5, 2021, “Barumbadings” is streaming exclusively on Vivamax. It also stars John Lapuz as Queenpin, also a gay, and Cecil Paz as Buchi, a lesbian. Queenpin and Buchi are ex-lovers who have become mortal enemies. They are the reasons why Izzy, Jopay, and Rochelle get involved in violent crimes.
