
Ballot printing
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has completed the printing of official ballots to be used in this year’s off-season national and local elections.
With the completion of the printing of 68,542,564 official ballots, it’s all systems go for the holding of the May 12 political exercise, according to poll observers.
Despite many challenges, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said the National Printing Office (NPO) finished the job in 48 days.
The poll body had earlier vowed to complete the printing of official ballots “at all costs on March 15.”
“Talagang tinupad ng Comelec ang kanyang pangakong matatapos ang printing ng mga balota way ahead of the May 12 mid-term elections,” a new voter said.
The printed official ballots do not include the test ballots and those to be used in the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections.”
Ang nasabing halalan sa Bangsamoro ay sa Oktubre na lang gaganapin.
The last batches of ballots printed were those to be used in Iloilo and San Juan City in Metropolitan Manila.
The election campaign period for national candidates – senators and party-lists – started on February 11.
Local candidates, on the other hand, start campaigning on March 28, according to the poll body.
And winning senators and party-list organizations will be announced a week after the May 12 balloting.
