‘BAGONG MAKAPILI’
A House leader from Mindanao slammed the so-called “Modern Traitors” or “Makabagong Makapili” Pinoys and Tsinoys and their well-funded local trolls and vloggers.
These people, according to Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, the lead chair of the House’s Quad Committee and chair of the House’s Dangerous Drugs panel, defend, support and parrot China’s narrative and propaganda lines on the latter’s claims, hostile actions, deceptions and intrusions in the West Philippine Sea.
Barbers said it is disheartening to learn that there exists unpatriotic and traitor Filipino trolls and vloggers who have lost sense of their love of country because of money.
In a privilege speech delivered at the House plenary, Barbers said China also had set a pre-condition that we junk the United Nations Conventions on the Law of Sea (UNCLOS) and the Hague-based International Arbitral Tribunal rulings that favor the Philippine claims to the WPS before they sit on a dialogue.
Nakakatawa sapagkat mga Portuguese ang nagtawag dito na South China Sea, na nuo’y tinatawag na Champa Sea, named after the Austronesian Kingdom of Central Vietnam,” he said.
“This, despite the “clear as the morning sun” ruling of UNCLOS and IAT that China’s claim of historic rights to resources in areas falling within its invisible demarcation line (in the West Philippine Sea) ‘had no basis in law and is without legal effect’,” he added.
UNCLOS, also called the Law of the Sea or the Law of the Sea Treaty, is an international treaty that establishes a legal framework for all marine and maritime activities. It was adopted in 1982 with 168 member-states and China was one of the signatories to the Treaty.
But China, up to present, continues to ignore, disregard and disrespect the UNCLOS and IAT ruling favoring the Philippine claims to the WPS, including the country’s UNCLOS-declared 200-mile exclusive economic zone.
The China government, he said, wanted the international community to respect their “no legal basis territorial lines” but does not respect the Philippines and other Asian country-claimants to the WPS by continuing to intrude on the country’s declared 200-mile EEZ, commit hostile acts against Filipino sailors and fishermen, creep inside the country’s territorial waters and militarize the WPS.
When the Philippine government enacted Republic Acts 12064 and 12065 governing rights inside the country’s maritime zones, Chinese officials summoned the Philippine Ambassador in Beijing and demanded the repeal of said laws.
