Bacoor bags top awards at 23rd ATOP National Convention

TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite – The City of Bacoor brought home two crowns in the 23rd Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) National Convention in Taal Vista Hotel here on October 27, 2022.

Bacoor City Councilor Toto Guerrero, chair, the Committee on Tourism and Culture and Arts, City Tourism Office (CTO) Head Edwin Guinto, and the hardworking staff of the CTO accepted the awards.

The City of Bacoor was cited as the “Grand Champion Best Tourism Marketing and Promotions” Brochure For the Bacoor Tourism Brochure; Grand Champion Best Tourism Marketing and Promotions – Publication for “History of Bacoor: Book One”; First Runner-up Best Tourism Marketing and Promotions – Gifts and Souvenirs for Non-Food – Bacoor Shell Crafts; Special Citation Best Tourism Marketing and Promotions – Publication for the book “Proclamation: Philippine Independence”; and 1st runner-up Best Tourism Oriented LGU (local government unit) of the Year.

Cavite Vice Governor Athena Tolentino gave a message to all the delegates of the convention while Cavite 1st District Board Member Davey Christian Chua, chair, Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts and Public Information, welcomed the delegates.

Senator Francis Tolentino, who spoke in a video message, emphasized the important role of tourism in the country’s economic recovery.

The plenary discussion discloses various important information that will further strengthen tourism and the directives therein.

Nelly Nita N. Dillera, executive director and DTI-Philippine Trade Training Center project director, discussed the Philippine Skills Framework Initiative the “Human Capital: Tourism MSMEs & Communities as Agents of Change”, which highlighted the role of the community in the rise of tourism.

There was also a discussion about “Regenerative Development and Tourism” led by Ramon Benedicto A. Alampay, Ph. D., Associate Professor – Asian Institute Of Tourism, University Of The Philippines Diliman, and Warner M. Andrada, OIC-Assistant Secretary for Tourism Development, Department of Tourism (DOT), the “DOT Plans, Vision, and Directions”.

Ormoc City was awarded as the “Grand Champion of the Sports and Adventure Tourism Event for entry – Ormoc LGU and DepEd Ormoc Division EVRAA 2019 hosting under “Support to Athletes in Pursuit of Accomplishing Total Life-Changing Opportunities in Sports” (SAPATOS) Sports Development Program.
