Baby drowns in floodwater
AN infant died after falling in floodwater in Pikit, Cotabato.
The baby was a resident of Sitio Proper, Bgy. Talitay, Pikit town.
Saguira Kadir Molina, the victim’s mother, told police that they hurriedly climbed up the roof after their house was reached by a high level of floodwater.
She was holding the child when the baby accidentally slipped from her hands and fell into the water.
The raging floodwater carried the baby away.
Village residents chased and pulled the baby from the water and rushed the infant to the hospital but to no avail.
Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management-Pikit immediately conducted rescue operations on families affected by floodings.
Pikit town and the nearby municipalities of Pagalungan and Datu, Montawal in Maguindanao suffered floodings brought by heavy rains.
