Baby dies of COVID!
A THREE-DAY old baby succumbed to the deadly coronavirus disease 19 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The baby, whose mother is a resident of Bgy. 5, Laoag City, died before it was learned kt was positive for the dreaded virus.
The infant was the youngest fatality recorded in the province since the pandemic started in March 2020.
Barangay 5 chairman Alfredo Peralta said the baby had undergone test after the mother first tested positive for the virus.
The mother, who was about to give birth to her baby, was rushed to the hospital and was subjected to a swab test.
The mother had fever when admitted to the hospital.
Reports said the baby tested positive for the disease on July 14 or three days after being born.
Laoag and Batac cities have the highest number of active COVID-19 cases, with 506 and 122 respectively.
As of July 15, Ilocos Norte has 1,249 active COVID-19 cases.
