Baby butchered by own aunt in Koronadal City
AN alleged depressed woman on Thursday attacked her nine-month-old niece with a knife in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
The baby died on the spot from multiple stab wounds.
The suspect, her own aunt, is in the custody of the authorities and now undergoing psychological intervention.
Police said the gruesome killing occurred in the victim’s house at Purok Tagumpay, Bgy. General Paulino Santos in Koronadal City.
The infant’s mother is working abroad and the baby was entrusted to the care of her sister-suspect.
Witnesses said on Thursday, the suspect suddenly became unruly and started pulling her hair while shouting.
The suspect then grabbed a kitchen knife and without a word stabbed the baby repeatedly.
Responding neighbors rushed to the house and prevented the suspect from further attacking the baby.
Relatives told police that the suspect was kind and loving and they never expected she would do the gruesome crime.
