B-Pier, Painters triumph
THREE wins and counting for NorthPort Batang Pier
The Batang Pier defeated Magnolia Pambansang Manok, 107-103, in another exciting battle in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
The trio of import Kadeem Jack, Arvin Tolentino and Joshua Munzon combined for 82 points to lead the Batang Pier of coach Bonnie Tan to victory.
Jack finished with 30 points on 12-of-23 shooting from the field on top of 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 39 minutes of action.
Tolentino added 10 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, while Munzon had 25 points, including the dagger four-point shot while adding nine rebounds, five steals in 35 minutes of play.
Fran Yu chipped in nine points, 10 assists, four rebounds and four steals.
Jerom Lastimosa tallied 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting, eight rebounds and eight assists in 34 minutes of action for the Chito Victolero-mentored Hotshots.
Rome Dela Rosa added 16 points while Mark Barroca had 14 points, seven assists and four rebounds in a losing effort.
Aris Dionisio and import Ricardo Ratliffe had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Oveshadowed by NorthPort’s perfect 3-0 was Rain or Shine, which brought down erstwhile unbeaten Hong Kong Eastern, 99-81.
Leonard Santillan scored scored nine of his 18 points in the fourthquarter, while Keith Datu added seven of his 10 in the same period as the Elasto Painters got the job done on importbDeon Thompson’s debut.
Thompson finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds for the E-Painters, who needed a big closing salvo to beat the guest team from Hong Kong.
