Azurin names new PRO7 director, PNP-PIO Chief

PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. on Thursday formally installed erstwhile PNP Public Information Office chief, Brigadier Gen. Roderick Augustus B. Alba as the new Police Regional Office 7 director in Central Visayas.

The top cop likewise named Colonel Redrico A. Maranan as the new PNP-PIO chief vice Alba who served under four PNP chiefs starting from now retired Generals Guillermo T. Eleazar and Dionardo B. Carlos, former PNP Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. and eventually, under Gen. Azurin.

Brig. Gen. Alba, a member of PNP Academy Class 1992 replaced Brig. Gen. Roque Edgardo DP Vega, a member of Philippine Military Academy ‘Sambisig’ Class of 1991 who became the PRO7 director on September 29, 2021.

Vega retired on Thursday at the age of 56 after more than 35 years of sterling service in the military and the police force.

Alba, who will be bringing in his good work attitude and professionalism at the Central Visayas police force called on the media to extend the same support they have given him to Col. Maranan of PNPA Class 1995.

A bemedaled police officer, Maranan used to be a Pangasinan Police Provincial Office director and was the Quezon City Police District Deputy Director for Operations before he was named by Gen. Azurin as PNP-PIO chief.

Maranan will be getting his star-rank with his new position.

Gen. Azurin commended Alba for the exemplary work he has done as PNP-PIO and as former PNP spokesman since October 1 last year.

Brig. Gen. Alba said he will be fully pushing for the KASIMBAYANAN program of Gen. Azurin which calls for enhanced partnership between the police, the Church and the community in fighting criminality and ensuring progress in the entire Central Visayas region.
