PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. yesterday assured their continued deeper partnership with their Indonesian and Singaporean counterparts in fighting transnational crime following President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr.’s successful state visit to our two Southeast Asian neighbors.

The top cop joined PBBM on his first foreign trip and state visits to Indonesia and Singapore on September 4-7.

Along with selected Cabinet secretaries and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin T. Romualdez, the President sought to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and explore opportunities for further development and economic growth.

“We strongly believe that the international engagement of the President with other ASEAN leaders is instrumental not only in renewing our commitment towards deepening diplomatic relations but also to establish high-level of mutual cooperation between law enforcement agencies across the world,” Gen. Azurin said.

He said that those talks would further “bolster global police cooperation while recognizing the significance of maintaining strong ties with all sectors of the community and spur domestic economic growth of respective countries.”

Cross-border training between the PNP and Indonesian and Singaporean forces as well as regular exchange of information are crucial in addressing threats posed by lawless elements specifically terrorists and drug and human smugglers as well as cyber-criminals.
