THE Philippines is now third among countries in Southeast Asia and 23rd in Asia, according to the latest FIFA men’s football world rankings Friday.

Coming off a victory and the draw in last month’s international friendlies, the Azkals are ranked 135th in the world.

Vietnam remains the leader in the region in 95th place, while reigning AFF champions Thailand sits in 113th spot.

The Philippines scored 1-0 victory over Nepal last that ended a four-match losing streak, giving coach Hans Michael Weiss a winning return.

The Azkals, however, suffered a tough 2-3 setback against Chinese Taipei to wrap up the June international friendlies.

Argentina continues to be on top of the world rankings, Japan remains the continental leader in 20th place.
