AWOL cop held for shabu, gun, grenade
SAN JOSE CITY — A police officer dismissed from the service on Friday was arrested in a buy-bust operation in this city.
Nabbed was a 44-year-old ex-lawman, of Villa Maragol, Science City of Muňoz, who went AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) during his previous stint as a police corporal assigned at the Science City of Munoz Police Station.
City police chief Lt. Col. Marlon M. Cudal said his men and members of the provincial police Anti-Illegal Drugs Enforcement Unit conducted surveillance operations against the suspect leading to his arrest in Bgy. Caanawan at 8:20 a.m. on Friday.
Cudal said the ex-cop tagged as a “drug-listed personality” was arrested after selling a P1,000 worth of shabu to an undercover operative.
Another three plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 0.18 gram worth P3,000 were also seized from the suspect.
Also recovered from the cop-suspect were a cal.45 pistol with magazine having seven bullets, an MK2 fragmentation grenade, a mobile phone, a police bull ring and a Honda Click 125 motorcycle.
Separate charges for violation of Republic Acts 9165, 10591 and 9516 were already filed against the suspect before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
