‘Ate Cha’ takes oath as Calamba City representative

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Charisse Anne Hernandez Alcantara was formally sworn in as the new representative of the lone district of Calamba City as she won the election on May 9, 2022.

“Ate Cha”, as to many Calambeños, defeated outgoing Calamba City Mayor Timmy Chipeco in the race by 7,407 votes to be proclaimed as the new congresswoman of Calamba City.

Outgoing Councilor Cha Hernandez got 113,130 votes, while Mayor Chipeco got only 105,723 votes.

Barangay La Mesa Village Chair Eduardo Silva administered the oath of office of Congresswoman-elect Hernandez-Alcantara on May 17, 2022, in a simple rite with families and supporters.

The CalamBago Party (PDP-Laban of BBM and Sara Duterte) made history after Congresswoman-elect Hernandez-Alcantara, Mayor-elect Ross Rizal and Vice Mayor-elect Totie Lazaro overturned the ticket of Timmy Chipeco who had long ruled the city.

Mayor-elect Roseller “Ross” Rizal of PDP-Laban piled up by 38,452 votes, while his opponent Joey Chipeco garnered only 78,325 votes compared to 116,777 votes of the incoming Mayor of Calamba City.

Vice Mayor-elect Angelito “Totie” Lazaro also won against Rajay Lajara with 126,445 votes out of 100,115 votes for the latter.

Two of their candidates for Councilor got into the 12-man slate Atty. Gerard Terual got the 9th place and Kath Silva settled for 12th seat, while the rest of the councilors-elect are Jojo Catindig, Turne Lajara, Lian Aldabe, Dyan Espiridion, Johnny Lazaro, Pursino Oruga, Moises Morales, Doreen Cabrera, Arvin Manguiat and Edison Natividad.
