GAPAN CITY — A 65-year-old wanted man facing charges at a local court in Nueva Ecija was discovered dead two years ago after an alias warrant of arrest was served to his wife on Saturday afternoon here.

City police head Lt. Col. Wilmar M. Binag said warrant officers led by Staff Sgt. Edgardo A. Lopez Jr. learned about the suspect’s death when they implemented Oplan manhunt Charlie operations at his house in Bgy. San Roque at 3:30 p.m. here.

His wife told the operating lawmen that her husband died on Dec.18, 2020 due to nasopharyngeal carcinoma (cancer).

It was learned that the deceased suspect had an alias warrant of arrest for sexual abuse docketed under Crminal Case No. 17842-14 issued by Gapan City branch 35 regional trial court judge Mildred S. Villaroman-Hernal on June 29, 2015 with recommended bail set at P200,000.

For record purposes, Binag said a copy of the suspect’s death certificate for submission to the court was secured.
