Army man held for “target-shooting” in Ecija

PEŇARANDA, Nueva Ecija – An Army private first-class soldier was arrested for alleged indiscriminate firing in a farm here on Saturday.

Provincial police head Col. Jaime O. Santos said the suspect identified as PFC John Rhyan Taguinod, 30,of Bgy. Barrio Militar, Palayan City, assigned with the 71st Division Reconnaisance Company based at the Fort Magsaysay military camp, was caught while allegedly “target shooting” in a farm owned by Sanny Bote in Bgy. Callos at 6 p.m. here.

Santos said his men immediately arrested the suspect after neighbors complained to the police that several gunshots were heard in the area.

Seized from the suspect were a cal. 45 pistol with magazine loaded with nine live bullets, an empty magazine, and a plastic bottle.

Santos said charges for alarm and scandal will be filed against the arrested suspect.
