ARMY ‘BLEEDS’ ON AFP ANNIVERSARY
THE Philippine Army ( PA) collected a total 31,096 blood bags during the nationwide blood donation drive to help those in need of blood supply.
Army soldiers, reservists, civilian personnel and volunteer stakeholders participated in program held recently at the various Army camps and community defense centers across the country.
The collected blood bags surpassed the previous blood donation records last March and August of this year.
The activity is anchored on the theme “Dugong Alay Mo, Sandigan ng Buhay Ko” which is part of the AFP’s 89th Anniversary Celebration in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), the Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay (DADB) Foundation, and partner hospitals.
The blood donation program aims to ignite Filipinos’ culture of “Bayanihan,” volunteerism, and help our “kababayans” who are in dire need of blood supply.
It is also worth noting that citizens who need blood transfusion can become beneficiaries upon recommendation and endorsements of soldiers, reservists, and reservist organizations within their barangays and LGUs.
Those who would like to avail of blood supply from the Army’s blood donations may inquire to the nearest Community Defense Centers (CDCs), and Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG) units under the Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RCPA).
In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido PA emphasized that a small contribution can have a big impact on the lives of every Filipino.
“Together, through our dedication and shared vision, we can achieve impactful results and strive toward even greater causes to uplift our people and our nation as we build the Bagong Pilipinas,” the Army Chief said.
It can be recalled that Army personnel, reservists, and other volunteer civilian donors collectively donated 24,841 during the second PA-wide National Heroes Day blood donation drive on August 25, 2024.
This is composed of 6,316 blood bags from active personnel donors and 18,525 blood bags from reservists and other donors.
On the other hand, the first PA-wide blood donation drive from March 8 to March 9, 2024, netted 25,237 blood bags comprising 7,058 blood bags from active personnel and 18,179 blood bags from reservists and other donors.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Army (PA) received the Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay Foundation’s “Life Saver Award” in honor of modern-day hero blood donors last November 18 as a testament to its unwavering commitment and sacrifice to contribute to increasing the country’s blood reserve.
