CABANATUAN CITY — A former member of the New People’s Army yielded to authorities on Friday here with his cal. 9mm pistol and hand grenade.

In his report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) chief Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay, newly-installed Nueva Ecija acting provincial police head Col. Jess B. Mendez said the latest surrenderee is a former 38-year-old rebel, who is from Bgy. Tugatog, Bongabon and tagged as a former member of the Sentro De Grabidad (Mindanao) from 2014 to 2017 and Kilusang Larangan Gerilya (KLG)-Sierra Madre from 2017 to 2020.

To start a new life, Mendez said the former rebel could receive benefits such as cash incentive, livelihood projects, medical, educational, housing and legal assistance that are included in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

During his surrender, he handed over to authorities a Cal.9mm Shooter pistol loaded with seven bullets and a fragmented hand grenade.

His surrender was a result of a special intelligence operation jointly conducted by elements of the 1st provincial mobile force company, PIU-NEPPO, 2nd PMFC, 22SAC, 2nd SAB-SAF, the General Tinio, Gabaldon, Cabanatuan City, Palayan City, and Bongabon police, RID3, 91st IB, Army, 71st MICO, and 703rd Brigade.

Mendez said the NEPPO will continue to support President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order No. 70 to make the province free from any kind of local terrorist movement in line with the implementation of the Regional Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) in Central Luzon led by Baccay.
