GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite – Another local chief executive in Cavite, Mayor Maricel Torres of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) town, has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Torres posted on her social media page that she tested positive Friday night.

“Ikinalulungkot ko pong ipabatid sa lahat na ako po ay nagpositibo sa COVID-19. Matapos ang ilang taong pakikipaglaban ay ngayon lang po tayo nagpositibo. Hindi man po magiging madali ang laban subalit alam kong nariyan po kayo na handang umalalay,” the mayor said in her post.

“Gayunpaman, si Mayor Maricel po ay patuloy na maghahandog ng #SerbisyongMayPuso. Ang turo po sa akin ng aking ama, hindi po pwede ang magpahinga lalo’t kayo po ang aming boss. Hinihiling ko po ang inyong mga panalangin sa aking agarang paggaling nang sa gayon ay makalipad po muli tayo na parang Agila. Keep safe po, GMAians,” Torres added.

Last Wednesday, Silang Mayor Socorro Poblete posted on her Facebook page that she tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.

Some of the Cavite officials hit by the coronavirus were Cavite 6th District Rep. Luis ‘Jon Jon’ Ferrer IV, Tanza Mayor Yuri Pacumio and Naic Mayor Junio Dualan in 2021.
