JACK Danielle Animam, touted as one of the greatest female player to grace the Philippine basketball scene, is ready to take her talents to the next level in Serbia.

Her management company, East West Private, announced late Monday that the 6-foot-5 center has signed a deal with Radnicki Kragujevac in the top-tier First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia.

Animam’s contract would run until March next year.

“There’s so much to learn from the European brand of basketball. We know that Serbia is one of the best basketball countries in the world,” said Animam.

“I really wanted to learn more about the game, keep improving and push myself to the limit,” she added.

Her defensive skills will be Animam’s main asset to the Kragujevac, Serbia-based club.

“I’m more of a defensive player. I’m going to bring it to the team,” said Animam, who scheduled to leave from the United States to Serbia on Friday.

Animam’s latest journey will be her third overseas following stints in the University Basketball Association in Chinese Taipei, where she won a championship for Shih Hsin University, and the Zone 6 Celtics in the pro-am Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League in the United States.

“I’m really excited for this move because everyday that I’m training, I’m doing it not only for myself but also for the little girls in the Philippines who also wanted to excel in basketball in the international level,” said Animam.

Last season, Radnicki Kragujevac finished in joint eighth with a 7-15 record and barely avoided relegation.

Pat Aquino, Animam’s coach in National University and in Philippine women’s team, was delighted to see his ward shine internationally.

“She’s the face of Philippine women’s basketball now. We’re just proud of what she has achieved. Hopefully more (Filipina basketball players) would follow her,” said Aquino.

A native of Malolos, Bulacan, Animam was a part of the Gilas Pilipinas women’s 5×5 and 3×3 teams that won the Southeast Asian Games gold medal in 2019. The former Philippine Sportswriters Association Miss Basketball awardee also won five UAAP titles for the Lady Bulldogs.
